Berlin April 2022
Where bicycles go to die
For the last 10 years i have told people that going to one country in Europe is going to all of them, like they are all the same, i couldn’t be more wrong.
The last time i was in Berlin was in 2011, a lot has changed in the the world, as have i, one hole month passed by like it was nothing the first time i visited, the only expectation i had was that i was going to drink a hole bunch of new beers, (i know, im pretty basic), at the time my photography was very different, but that story is for another time.
This time around, i only got to stay three days, well if we don’t count the travel time, i would say 2 hole days, it was indeed a very quick visit.
As quick as it may have been, i think i saw more that a decade ago, and it felt like a hole new place, even doe i had already been there.
You know the feeling when you notice something for the first time, you think its weird and a one time thing, then you start to see it everywhere? That was me with the trashed bicycles, I swear, in a hole month I was there 11 years ago it wasn´t like that (our i was too busy looking at other stuff)
Don’t know why or how some of these bicycles, once a means of transportation, become useless piles of metal, some striped down to the bone, others bent and mangled to the point of no return.
Either way can’t wait to go back and explore even further the depths of Berlin.
